Opal

Famed for the myriad colours of light that the Opal gemstone diffracts, this gemstone is a hydrated form of silica. A relatively fragile stone, this beautiful gemstone is the national stone of Australia where it abounds. Colour depends on the condition in which the stone was formed. Our opal beads come from the relatively new deposit location int he Welo province of Ethiopia. The opal bead necklace is often faked, especially the black opals which are the rarest- we tend to keep our opal necklaces simple- choosing not to combine them with other beads.
